CATCoder – A Tool For Analyzing Human Social Interaction

A colleague and I built CATCoder to analyze the highly publicized traffic stop of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill on September 8, 2024. It is useful for doing detailed analyses of communication behaviors during human social interaction through the lens of Communication Accommodation Theory (CAT).

CATCoder isn’t just a transcript highlighter—it’s a coding tool built for anyone who wants to dig deeper into human interaction. With CATCoder, you can:

  • Import a transcript and instantly start coding verbal, nonverbal, and paraverbal behaviors.

  • Tag moments of accommodation, convergence, divergence, and more, using intuitive menus and other features purpose-built to code CAT features.

  • Capture subtle cues: from speech rate shifts and tone changes to pauses, interruptions, and gestures.

  • Review and refine your codes with an intuitive interface that keeps your workflow smooth and distraction-free.

  • Export your coded data for further analysis—whether qualitative or quantitative.

We designed CATCoder to make it significantly easier to code interactions via CAT in a simple, organized, and highly granular manner.

* CATCoder is still in development and will be available for download soon!

WorkFlowXO – My Personal System for a Productive Workday

I built WorkFlowXO because I wanted a simple, visual way to organize my workday and actually see my progress. Every morning, I use it to lay out my tasks, split them between Today and Later, and track what’s in progress or done.

WorkFlowXO isn’t just a to-do list—it’s a workflow manager designed for real, everyday productivity. You can:

  • Add and organize tasks for today or the future, with easy drag-and-drop between lists.

  • Mark tasks as "Not Begun," "In Progress," or "Completed" with a single click.

  • Highlight ongoing, multi-day projects as workflow tasks (with blue text and a lightning icon), so you never lose track of what needs repeated attention.

  • Start a timer for any task to help you focus and timebox your work, complete with sound alerts.

  • Edit, copy, reorder, or print your lists—all with a clean, intuitive interface.

I designed WorkFlowXO to be the tool I reach for every morning, and I hope it helps you bring clarity and momentum to your day, too. Please note that WorkFlowXO is currently only available for Windows.
